Exercise 1: Reading & Writing: Fill in the Blanks

Select the most appropriate word for each blank from the options provided.

Text: "The impact of climate change on global agriculture is (1) __________ . Researchers have (2) __________ that yields of staple crops like wheat and corn could drop by 10% in the coming decades. To (3) __________ this crisis, farmers must adopt more (4) __________ irrigation techniques."

Options:

(2) doubted / concluded / ignored
(3) exacerbate / address / stimulate
(4) wasteful / sustainable / traditional
Show/Hide Answers
Answers: (1) significant, (2) concluded, (3) address, (4) sustainable.
Logic: The text discusses a crisis, so the impact is "significant" and we need to "address" it with "sustainable" methods.

Exercise 2: Re-order Paragraphs

Arrange the following sentences in the correct logical order.

A) This process, known as photosynthesis, is essential for life on Earth.
B) Plants use sunlight to convert carbon dioxide and water into food.
C) It also releases oxygen into the atmosphere as a byproduct.
D) Without this oxygen, most organisms would be unable to survive.
Show/Hide Answers
Correct Order: B-A-C-D
Logic: B introduces the main action. A identifies the process by name ("This process"). C adds a secondary result ("It also"). D explains the consequence of that result ("Without this oxygen").
