ICAO Speaking Section
The ICAO Speaking Section evaluates your ability to communicate clearly in aviation situations. You must describe pictures, explain problems, discuss scenarios and talk about experience. The focus is on clarity, fluency, pronunciation and operational communication.
What is the ICAO Speaking Section?
In the ICAO speaking section, you must communicate in aviation-related situations. The examiner evaluates how well you describe, explain, clarify and respond using clear operational English.

Part 1 — General Aviation Questions
The first part usually includes general questions about aviation experience, aircraft, routes and operations. The examiner checks your ability to speak naturally.

- Describe your airport.
- What is the busiest phase of flight?
Part 2 — Picture Description
You are shown a picture and must describe what you see clearly and logically. This may include weather, runway situations, aircraft activity or technical problems.
Part 3 — Incident Explanation
You may be given an aviation situation and asked to explain the problem and what should happen. The focus is on operational communication and decision-making.
