Preparation Time: 20 seconds
Speaking Time: 60 seconds
Task Structure
- The Listening: A professor explains a concept and provides two specific examples.
- Your Goal: State the main topic, define the concept briefly, and provide a clear summary of the two examples provided by the professor.

These examples clearly demonstrate how [Link back to main concept].
Pro-Tips for Task 4
- Listen for the "Markers": Professors use clear signal words like "For instance," "To illustrate this," "Alternatively," or "Another example is..." These are your anchors—grab them!
- Balance the Examples: Try to spend about 25–30 seconds on each example to ensure a balanced response.
- Don't Panic: Since there is no reading, you must take very thorough notes during the lecture. Use abbreviations to keep up with the professor’s speed.
- The "Topic Sentence": Your first 10–15 seconds should clearly define the concept. If you get the definition wrong, the rest of your response will lose credibility with the grader.
- Maintain Academic Tone: Avoid personal opinions or "I think." Use objective language like "The professor illustrates," "The lecture explains," or "This concept is shown through..."
